November 8:
Hello Parents,
We have finished our unit on animals and are moving into dinosaurs. If you would like to provide your child with fun and educational games at home related to the subjects, I will be sending a list of games, websites, and songs you can use at home at the start of each of these units. It is not mandatory to view, purchase, or complete these resources but, any practice in English at home will always help your child’s ability grow.
November 8: Dinosaur Week 1
November 14: Dinosaur Week 2
November 21: International Week (our class is representing Egypt)
November 28: Farms
December 5: Arctic Animals
December 12: Winter Holidays (Santa, Reindeer, Trees, and Snowmen will be covered. There will be no religious aspects brought in)
After the winter holiday we will switch from the themed units over to the Oxford International Curriculum. This first term was to help your children develop the necessary English and classroom skills so that they are ready for the Year 1 English Curriculum.
If you have any questions on this, please feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer them.

Parents please try to help with the following items:
1. We will not change your child's clothes, but we will remind them to change. Please make sure they are able to change their own clothing if need be and if a change is required, please make sure they have extra school uniform to change into.
2. Writing pencils are a must for year 1. Please make sure your child has writing pencils.
3. Shoes must be black or white.
4. We spend our day working with your children to help improve their academic, social and behavioural skills. This requires all of our attention and focus. If your child leaves a belonging in the canteen, outside, or another classroom, of course we will try to retrieve it but, schedule permitting, we may not have time. Help remind your child to keep track of their belongings. If they do misplace something please check the school lost and found.

- 3 Pencils
- 1 Blue Pen
- 1 Eraser

- Crayons or coloured pencils
- A full water bottle
- Afternoon Snack (this is not required but many children are hungry by 15:30 and if a snack is sent they are given time to eat it before attending ECA).
- Please refrain from sending markers with your child to school currently. Your child is welcome to leave their pencil case in their school desk overnight.
- If you have not yet done so, please send all copy books to school. I am exchanging them for the correct books and then I will be putting your child’s name on them.
- Homework will go home on Monday and should be completed and returned by the following Monday. The homework corresponds with what we are currently learning in Year 1.
- Reading at home with your child in English will assist their learning process. If you do not have English books at home there are many that can be found online that have are read by a Native English speaker. Please let me know if you would like assistance with locating those.
