0 - Working towards – 0-44%
1 – Below expected Level – 45-59%
2 – At expected Level – 60-74%
3 – Above expected Level – 75-94%
4 – Exceeding expectations – 95-100%

Student Conduct Contract: Class Participation (100 points)
Weekly assessment and vocabulary quizzes
A quiz will be given the first lesson of the week covering vocabulary, homework, and topics from the previous week.
Homework assignments will be assigned weekly to be covered in-class. Formal assessment of homework will be incorporated into the quizzes. Therefore it is important that your child is clear on any questions before the quiz. In-class discussions and open-class hours will be scheduled for this:
Tuesday’s from 15:30 to 17:00 for Year 8 students
Friday’s from 15:30 to 17:00 for Year 9 students
Notebooks will be checked weekly.
Notebooks must be kept organized and up to date.
The above will count toward class participation extra credit grade.
Class participation points will be deducted for student conduct code violations to include:
- Not respecting students or the teacher in class (-1 point)
- Talking while the teacher or other students are speaking (-1 point)
- Not paying attention (-1 point)
- Not taking notes or poor note-taking (-5 points)
- Not coming prepared to class (-10 points)
- Speaking Russian in class (-1 point)
- Play fighting or actual fighting in the classroom (-50 points)
- Cheating on an exam or talking during an exam (-20 points)
- Not contributing to project or group work (-10 points)
Class participation points will be awarded for:
- Respecting students or the teacher in class (+1 point)
- Keeping a good notebook (+5 points)
- Completing assignments (+5 points)
- Seeing extra help outside of class (+5 points)
Detentions will be given for
- A loss of 3 points for interrupting in one period
- Coming unprepared 3 classes in a row
- Not taking notes 3 times in a row
- Play fighting or actual fighting once.
Extra-credit assignments will be available weekly in the form of Journal Articles for which a 500 – 1000 word summary must be written.
